Therapeutic Coaching

In my capacity as a certified coach/psychotherapist and a Registered Member of the BACP, I am deeply enthusiastic about the combination of the forward-focused approach of coaching with the potent psychological advantages of psychotherapy. This blend offers a distinctive alternative to traditional coaching for my clients. Together, we address entrenched beliefs that are hindering progress, eliminate the sensation of being "stuck," and ensure you achieve lasting positive change.
My way of working is time-limited, providing support during pivotal and sometimes challenging moments in clients' professional or personal lives. This can include navigating transitions such as preparing for a step up, making a career change, returning to work, or aiding in the early stages of a new role or project. Additionally, it extends to addressing mental well-being challenges such as stress management, and coping with depression and anxiety, as well as finding meaning and purpose in our work.
Approach to Work
Drawing from both personal experiences and those of my clients, I firmly believe that solely relying on either coaching or therapy is often insufficient. Imagine tending to a garden without first enriching the soil or planting seeds but neglecting to water and nurture them over time. This analogy underscores my belief in the synergy of combining both approaches – therapy to address underlying issues and create a strong foundation, and coaching to cultivate and guide ongoing growth.
In our collaborative journey, I believe that an authentic, trusting relationship serves as the foundation for meaningful change. By cultivating self-awareness and understanding our experiences, we unlock the potential for transformation. While our past shapes who we are, we possess the power to adapt and thrive in the present. By disentangling ourselves from limiting thoughts and emotions, we foster resilience and flexibility. With clarity about our goals and a commitment to action, we can actively shape the lives we desire.
I operate within the framework of Personal Consultancy, enabling the integration of various counselling approaches with coaching. Together, we navigate four stages, occasionally revisiting them as new insights emerge. The initial stage involves active listening, allowing you to share your story. We then delve into understanding underlying issues or dynamics contributing to your situation, followed by exploring and experimenting with solutions. Finally, we work on sustaining successful strategies, empowering you to move forward independently with confidence.
Typically, these four stages unfold over 8 to 12 sessions, ensuring sustainable changes within a defined timeframe. I offer both in-person and online sessions via Zoom and currently see clients on Wednesdays.
About Me
Photography by Ben Carpenter.
Having occupied leadership roles in two of the UK's premier theatre organisations—The Old Vic and Kiln Theatre - I’ve also served as a trustee for a number of NPO organisations and award-winning theatre companies, fostering their growth in scale, impact and ambition. As an independent artist, my work spans film, television and theatre projects with global reach, collaborating with organisations like the BFI, Sky TV, and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
My extensive career in the arts sector has revealed the inseparability of personal and professional aspects. Observing those who excelled in both realms inspired my decision to train as an integrated coach-therapist after overcoming my own professional challenges and achieving my goals with the help of combining coaching and therapy.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching from the School of Psychology at UEL, completing the course on a scholarship and with distinction. Trained in various therapeutic approaches, I bring the most fitting techniques and strategies to our collaboration. However, as a client, your focus need not be on theory; leave that to me. Our primary goal is establishing an authentic connection, fostering a robust working relationship within a safe space to explore, resolve, and achieve.
